About the Service
Muistamme.fi is a Finnish online service for publishing obituaries, launched in summer 2025.
An obituary can include text and images, and it gets its own web address. The page can be shared with loved ones and serves as a place to return to even years later. You can also add old obituaries from decades ago to the service. You can search for obituaries in many ways: by place of birth and death or by dates, by region, and by name search.
The service has been awarded the Key Flag symbol by the Association for Finnish Work.
Who we are
Muistamme.fi began with a personal loss. When the father of one of our founders, Jani Taavettila, passed away, one thing became clear while settling the estate: an obituary still matters deeply to the family, but a newspaper notice can be surprisingly expensive, especially when the estate has no funds. Parishes recognise the same concern.
That led to the idea of a dignified, reasonably priced online service where an obituary can be published easily and beautifully, shared with loved ones and revisited years later. The very first obituary on the service was for Jani's father.
We founded Muistamme.fi together, three friends. The service is run by Solekko Digital Oy, a small Finnish team combining software development and visual design. 10% of the price excluding VAT of every obituary goes to ODL's E-TukiHelmi project, which works to prevent bullying and support young people affected by it.

Pricing and Charity
The price of the obituary is a one-time charge of 49 € (incl. VAT).
In the operating model of the Muistamme.fi service, a portion of the service's revenue is always directed to a charity or advocacy work that does good. 10% of the price excluding VAT of each published obituary is directed to a charity. These targets may vary over the years according to suitable ongoing projects.
Currently, the Muistamme.fi collaboration is focused on the E-TukiHelmi activity, which focuses on the aftercare of bullying. The E-TukiHelmi activity offers individual discussion help and peer group activities for those who have experienced bullying. The project works in educational institutions in Northern Finland and aims to prevent bullying by increasing understanding of the phenomenon and its long-term effects. At the same time, young people are provided with tools to deal with the effects of bullying. The project is implemented by ODL. Read more about the E-TukiHelmi project here.
Can there be multiple obituaries for the same person?
Yes. Sometimes colleagues want to publish their own obituary in memory of the deceased. This also allows, for example, a circle of friends or a close friend or relative to publish their own.
